The HOPE Program is proud to be selected as a recipient of $750,000 in funding through a $5 million workforce development initiative led by the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and announced by Governor Kathy Hochul. The investment will support eight organizations across New York State in preparing more than 1,000 New Yorkers for careers in the growing clean energy economy. This initiative reflects New York’s continued leadership in building a sustainable, inclusive workforce to support the state’s transition to clean energy. With nearly 185,000 clean energy jobs already statewide and demand continuing to grow, these investments are designed to ensure that New Yorkers have the skills, training, and access needed to succeed in this rapidly expanding sector.
Through this funding, The HOPE Program will expand its clean energy workforce pathway, providing participants—particularly individuals from historically marginalized communities—with industry-aligned training, career readiness support, and direct connections to employment. The program includes comprehensive wraparound services and an 8- to 12-week paid, employer-embedded internship, creating a clear pathway from training to career.
Across the state, partner organizations will deliver a range of hands-on training opportunities—from electric vehicle technician programs and green construction pre-apprenticeships to energy efficiency and industrial maintenance training. Many of these programs prioritize underserved populations, including women entering the trades, individuals returning from incarceration, and residents of low-income communities.
This investment is about more than workforce development—it is about expanding access to opportunity, strengthening communities, and ensuring that the benefits of the clean energy transition are shared equitably. By connecting New Yorkers to good-paying, in-demand careers, initiatives like this are helping to build a more resilient, inclusive economy for the future.
