Intervine

Intervine is a transitional employment program in which participants are paid to execute green infrastructure and maintenance contracts throughout the city.

COURSE DETAILS

Length: 10 weeks

Certifications: OSHA 30 Construction, 8hr Fall Prevention, 2hr Drug/Alcohol Awareness, Site Safety Training card, DOT 4hr Site Safety Flagger, NYC DOB 4hr Supported Scaffold User, CPR and First Aid, Citizen Pruners, Solar PV Installation

Schedule: M-F 8-4

The Intervine program trains jobseekers in the development and maintenance of green infrastructure projects like green roofs, solar power, and rain gardens. These projects work to address environmental injustices while preparing participants for promising careers in the green economy.

Intervine recently renovated the Bryant Hill Community Garden and actively maintains the Fordham Road Business Improvement District.

All jobseekers in Intervine are paid a $15 hourly wage.

In addition, program participants receive the skills, training and education within the HOPEworks curriculum, including: digital literacy, resume writing, interviewing skills and more.

HOPE connected me with an internship as a gardener. From there, I worked my way all the way up to Assistant Manager. I can see for myself the impact that my work has on New York City and the world at large.
